Beit Al Batroun

  • BY THE SEA

Thoum, Batroun district

Nestled in a little valley overlooking the Mediterranean Sea near the town of Thoum, Beit al Batroun Bed & Breakfast is a haven of peace, a countryside retreat on the Lebanese sea coast, and only a 40-minute drive from Beirut. Beit al Batroun is a labour of love for owner Colette Kahil, who brought to life a dream that was 10 years in the making. Working alongside architect friend Wadih Chehaybar, Colette drew up a house influenced by traditional Lebanese rural constructions, with rooms and sitting spaces articulated around a spacious central liwan.

Built using upcycled materials collected for years from around the world, including doors, beams, tiles, and a myriad of furniture, Colette’s interior design relies on an intuitive marriage of restored vintage pieces, innovative design ideas, and hand crafts; Colette is herself a mosaicist. Colette continuously receives accolades for the setting she has created and the cozy comfort offered by her boutique retreat, with rave reviews by guests and press alike. Beit al Batroun has been featured in Monocle, Harper’s Bazaar, Le Monde, Vogue, DECO, Evening Standard Magazine and Aïshti Magazine, among others.
