Karine Tawil founded Karoline Lang International in 2012 with a flagship store in Avenue Montaigne, Paris. Today, she works from her studio in Beirut, the Middle East’s leading fashion hub. As a designer, Tawil is drawn to the movement of the body, the simplicity of form and material detail. She creates enduring styles with streamlined tailoring. She sources fine fabrics from boutique textile houses and often creates her own patterns and textures. Her experimental approach ranges from using new technologies such as laser-cut patterning to traditional couture techniques.
Her philosophy is driven by the woman’s capacity for self-expression. Her inspirations are diverse, from the disciplined rationality of modernist architecture, the warm colours and exuberant details of Renaissance painting, the exalted bodies of dancers to the harsh contrasts of nature. She is experimental in style, but orthodox in execution. She draws on explorations of the body, object and space. She celebrates the woman’s sensuality through precise and detailed tailoring. She carves, cuts and slices in order to accurately define the body and its movements. Her garments are like a second skin, fitting with disciplined elegance and comfort. All of her clothes are accompanied by couture services at her studio in Beirut. She use only high-quality materials and fabrics.
